    I have determined
    All that arises passes away
    I have determined that
    I know nothing

    It is easy to determine
What time it is. It is always now.
    Now I have everything

    Attention here and now
Compassion emerges when sadness merges with joy
Only those who have transcended the world can make a better world

    When we start with pain
where do we go from here?
If children have been hurt and their parents are filled with guilt and fear,
where do we go from here?
Stories of events are just that – stories.
    The events that transpired
are known to the people who were present.
Yet even though they saw and heard and felt the moment
they are only able to tell the story from their own limited perspective.
The role of anyone who would intervene
in the lives of the troubled
is to listen and be present
    to receive what is shared.
The role is to give comfort and acknowledgement.
    The role is to listen.
To listen carefully and with skill.

What kind of debt is that
When a man gives his life
Trying to save the woman he loves.
What kind of debt must she feel
And what legacy has he created

It is an obligation to honor

    I saw two hawks today.
    One came down
    And stood on the ground
    To see me.
I asked, “Where have you been?
    My hope has flown away.”
    The hawk stared,
    Then looked away,
    Shuffling his feet
Like the ground was not where he wanted to stay.
The second hawk it glided by
    And flapped impatiently.
    The hawk on the ground
    Just looked around
    But failed to answer me.
    <><><><><><><><><><><><><> 06/27/11

    The hawk flew higher
    Up through fog ever rising
    To reach sun soaked sky.

A few inspired by the Time Paradox, by Zimbardo & Boyd

    Every life is a
Race with time and a battle
    Against not being.

    Life is a race with,
    And a battle against, time
    Marvel and wonder.

    Whenever we look
    Happiness is the present
    Choice in ideal time
