gruntled & grizzled

Gruntled employees
Product of bureaucracy
and grizzled veterans

patience reflected – Poems about CPS

Posted by Gerry on September 15th, 2011

One part of the job
Families in crisis now
Healing through the team
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 09/26/07

On supervising other people

Guidance comes when it
Is given through listening
To your direction
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 09/26/07
I learn things really
fast because days grow shorter
patience reflected
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 01/25/08
I have determined
All that arises passes away
I have determined that
I know nothing

It is easy to determine
What time it is. It is always now.
Now I have everything

Attention here and now
Compassion emerges when sadness merges with joy
Only those who have transcended the world can make a better world
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 03/05/08
When we start with pain
where do we go from here?
If children have been hurt and their parents are filled with guilt and fear,
where do we go from here?
Stories of events are just that – stories.
The events that transpired
are known to the people who were present.
Yet even though they saw and heard and felt the moment
they are only able to tell the story from their own limited perspective.
The role of anyone who would intervene
in the lives of the troubled
is to listen and be present
to receive what is shared.
The role is to give comfort and acknowledgement.
The role is to listen.
To listen carefully and with skill.

Tattoos

Memories of you
Fade like tattoos on the soul
Vague yet permanent

An optimistic fatalist

An optimistic
Fatalist saw the outcome
Coming and he smiled

To be honored as a poet is the point

Posted by Gerry on September 9th, 2011

An identity
Changing, as the point is, to
Become a poet
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 08/22/11

Meditate on the
Fabulous new beginning
Of every new day
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 08/18/11

She is way past woos
She’s tough and ready for life
No problem too big.

Rocks stacked-25
Stacking rocks is like
Haiku – it keeps happening
And stands here waiting.
Rocks stacked-12
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 08/21/11

Rusting and tarnish
Of everyday life give way
To shining spirit
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 08/26/11

Do it your own way.
Being a bucket of quirks
Is the human way.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 08/27/11

“Fern was up at daylight trying to rid the world of injustice.”
E.B. White
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 08/30/11

Winds of change blowing
The seasons inevitably
To a new era
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 08/30/11

“Anyone can be cool but it takes practice to be awesome”, said Patrick
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 09/05/11

All that is left is
A new kind of normal that
Needs just miracles
<><><><><><><><><><><><><> 09/09/11

Summer's end
Hummingbird zipping
Back and forth just wondering
Where summer has gone

Not a real haiku but it made me laugh

Posted by Gerry on September 8th, 2011

The dark cloud over
My head is so slow it can’t
even keep up with me
